Our Hobbies are Always Waiting for Us
It’s been three years since I posted on this website. Wow! There has been a lot going on in my life, but none of it is a good excuse to neglect my hobbies. I love to write and draw. Without these outlets I’m just not as happy as a person as I like to be.
I’m a new mom to two boys! They sure do take up a lot of my time. Even if there’s times I feel too busy, I will continue to advocate for making time for your hobbies.
Finding time for what makes your heart happy is what most of my writing talks about lately. Mainly to remind myself that, regardless of what is going on in life, the most important task will always be to have fun.
Whatever your fun looks like. It’s important.
Even though I always feel like an amateur in my art and writing, I will still show up. It really doesn’t matter if we’re perfect at our hobbies. I know people enjoy raw stories more than fake and perfected stories.
So here I am showing up for myself. And hopefully showing others that even when were not the most graceful at what were doing to still keep doing it anyways. It feels a lot better than quitting.
Time to Reflect
There was a time when I put my hobbies aside. I won’t beat myself up about that, because it was still a good time to reflect on my feelings and what I feel about myself and the world. If we give ourselves space to think about the world with no outside influences, we have space to know what we love to do.
Honestly, in today’s world, most people are flooded with activities that waste their time. We don’t spend enough time in thought and on ourselves. Our technology and careers can suck up so much of our time.
What I’ve experienced during my time away from outside noise and time with myself, is that my hobbies and being joyful has brought me closer to myself and others.
My hobbies have brought me connections with other people. Being ourselves will bring a certain light to the world that is needed.
As a reminder to you and me, please don’t neglect your hobbies.
